I wonder (food for thought): What is our current normal and what will become our “new normal” regarding future organizational life, and the culture (my passion to measure in organizations) that we wish to create together?
Here are some selected evidence based on research of our organizational life:
Our life pre-covid:
– mental ill-health on the rise;
– toxic work environments surfacing;
– staff engagement weak;
– workplace violence on the rise;
– distrust of leadership and institutions growing;
– unethical leadership increasing;
– workplace suicide on the rise;
During covid-19:
– low wage earners not safe;
– depression and loneliness increasing;
– decreasing focus on productivity;
– focus on remote working;
– focus on health and wellbeing deemed to be important;
– lessons learned about the “middle management” is the focus of recovery;
Our future organizational life post-covid:
My questions to consider:
1- So what do we want our future organizational life to become?
2- What is the difference between what organizational leaders desire for the future of organizational life compared to that of their employees, staff or followers?
3 – Will we be creating a “new normal” or return to the “old normal” as we exit from this pandemic?
4 – What have we learned about “what has worked well” (WWW) during Covid and what could even be better (EBB) for all involved in our future efforts to either restore or recover from this pandemic?
5. How does our moral compass align with a “new normal” state, which we are starting to establish within our organizations, and most importantly the compassionate treatment of “our” people?
What do you think?
