I wonder: I have a question for leaders in many sectors from faith, community, private and government. Do you want to be a better leader? If so?..why? If not, why not?
It is an interesting question, as it is asking the leader to look inward. It is not about their successes or accomplishments! It is about how they think about leading themselves, in the context of making the lives of others better.
Unfortunately, my experience has been that it is hardly about the other.
In my long career in coaching and organizational transformation or renewal, I have hardly found many leaders willing to address this question from within. It has been the outward expression of their leadership that is fundamentally their focus.
I have succeeded to assist leaders, as their partners walk alongside them. The process is always about sharing the safe space to explore their understanding of how consciously aware they are of what core values, beliefs assumptions and resulting biases reside within.
And then it is about the approaches, tools, and the ways to discover their neurobiological state of “being” and not their state of doing.
Because of Covid, I believe that leaders now need to integrate their thinking from three kinds of minds (head, heart, or gut).
