I wonder: How many organizational leaders would see being their best if they would be kind, calm & healing people? This is the focus of my consulting and coaching practice. I believe the starting point for leaders must be to strengthen their neurobiological state of “safe & social”. We now know that prior to Covid, organizational life generally was not necessarily a healthy environment for a large percentage of staff. We also know that during Covid, the lessons learned: that staff want their leaders to focus on their health, wellbeing & purpose. I think that it will be intriguing if and when leaders answer the question for the post -Covid period: What is the “new normal” that they wish, compared to the that which their staff desire? This requires ways to measure the current culture and the desired culture. Will both the leaders and their followers agree to what is a shared “new normal”? Perhaps this “new normal” is about changing leaders to be kinder, more compassionate, to be a calming and healing force within their work environment. What do you think? Do you know how to support your leader to change to be more compassionate?
