I wonder: I have a question for leaders to consider. How long do you plan to stay in your executive position? Then, are your organizations ready with succession plans to recruit younger aspiring leaders who possess new & relevant skills, knowledge, and visions of what future organizations need to be, post-covid?
There is clear evidence suggesting that current leaders are burned out, & are ready to either retire, take a break from leadership, or simply leave to rest, recover, & restore their body, mind and spirit, after such a brutal disruption.
Have you asked your leader about their future plans? How long are they intending to remain? What do they need to do to remain impactful? More importantly, do they have the new skills, knowledge and acumen required for organizations to be restructured with new governance models. Also, are they ready and able to accelerate their innovation and technologies? Ultimately, do they know how to re-energize their organizational culture to become one focused on the health and wellbeing of all staff? Perhaps, it is time to conduct a cultural assessment. My recent conversations with leaders within health, non-profit, & faith-based organizations have informed me that the time is right for these difficult questions to be addressed.
