What is an infected organizational culture? Have we ever thought about this metaphor within an organizational context? This is similar to the idea of a virus infecting any living organism. Perhaps, this is something we should consider within the context of organizational traits which may be toxic as my previous posts have identified, including autocratic and dysfunctional leadership styles, silo mentalities, lack of trust and respect throughout the organization and most importantly blocking or hiding of knowledge or shared information which limits any form of organizational innovation. This will hinder organizational or team success.
Perhaps, the underlying conditions are what we are well aware of and have diagnostic tools to apply when we engage brave and courageous leaders who wish to reflect on their own thinking and behaviours.
What has been your experience with “infected organizational culture” when it is recognized as harmful?
